Welcome, and thank you for visiting my website.
Although I gained a degree in Graphic Design, painting and drawing were always my first love. On leaving college I spent many years as a freelance illustrator producing work for advertising agencies and design groups. Sometime later I also became interested in carved wood as a medium and gradually turned towards sculpture.
After a gap of many years, my love of painting was rekindled as a result of visiting the Royal Miniature Society Exhibition in 2013. I was delighted to be awarded Associate Membership (ARMS) in 2015 and Full Membership (RMS) in 2017. I find portraits particularly satisfying but I also have an interest in wildlife. In the future I would like to explore more unconventional subject matter for miniature paintings.
Wood, however, is my real passion. Over the years I have been commissioned to create architectural models, trophies, advertising pieces and bespoke presentation pieces. Carved bowls are a relatively new endeavour for me but one that I find opens up new possibilities for creativity. From large, rich-coloured walnut wall pieces to miniature carvings in dense and hard boxwood, I take great pleasure in pushing wood to its limits and creating unique and often unexpected things.
